COWBOY POETRY GATHERING

"NOW THIS IS A TRUE STORY"
When a Cowboy is telling a particularly funny
tail from the dusty trail, it never hurts
to add that famous guarantee.
That's how many of the Cowboys start as
they spin their yarns and recite their poems.
If you have never been to the
ARVADA COLORADO COWBOY POETRY GATHERING
you have no idea what a fun time you have
missed.
TOE TAPPING MUSIC,
SIDE SPLITTING STORIES,
TEAR JERKING POETRY.
"Yep"
Quen and I have been attending since 2004 and
we have enjoyed every year.
We most love the daytime sessions, because you
can get so "Up Close and Personal"
with the performers
Here are a few of my favorites.
Jon Chandler and Milton Taylor
Jon Chandler is an award winning singer and song
writer. He has a rich, full voice that I love to
listen to.
Milton Taylor is probably my favorite, partly because
he is so friendly, but I really enjoy his poems and the
great way he preforms them. He is from New South
Wales, Australia and he brings a new view with his
AUSTRALIAN BUSH POETRY.

Bill Warwick and
Pop Wagner
Two more great showmen, Songs, Poems and Rope Tricks

Andy Nelson - (and son)

Another of my most favorite cowboys is Andy Nelson.
He is a farrier from Pinedale, Wyominng and has
the talents and humor that makes him a
great entertainer.
I always make sure I get to one of his sessions and
I always come away laughing.

Liz Masterson, Jackie Morgan and Doris Daley

We also have some great COWGIRLS
Liz Masterson is a real showwoman. She is one
of the coordinators of the Gathering.
She has a super singing voice, plays great guitar and
her YODELING is far out.
Jackie Morgan and Doris Daley write and preform
poetry. Doris Daley is outstanding and has
a wonderful sense of humor

It's just a different kind of entertainment you don't
get to see very often. I love the humor,
I love the music, I love the comedy

A CANDLELIGHT DINNER

As many of you know, one of my very favorite forms of
entertainment is the DINNER THEATER. Especially
if a "Musical" is playing.
This week we had the opportunity to attend the new
CANDLELIGHT DINNER THEATER
and review their production of
"SWING"

Candlelight is a new theater in Johnstown
just off of Hiway I-25 at Johnson's Corners.
Very modern and just plush enough to be lovely.

The room is very well laid out and I doubt
that there is a really bad seat in the house

This was our second time to attend, but, this
time we had
LESLIE AND BRUCE
with us and the
company was just
wonderful

The food is good and is quite varied (from Mac and
Cheese to Buffalo meat).
The productions we have seen were good, but,
I am hopeing for big improvements in that
department.
It may be just a bit pricier that I like, but it was
a really great evening of fun

I RECOMMENT IT TO ALL

MY DAY WITH RANDY

This week I spent a day
with Randolph Anthony
Pinto, aka, Dr. Pinto or
better known as Randy.
They took my weight,
measured my height and
gave me a (beautiful) gown
to put on. They took my tempature, blood pressure and
an EKG. And about a pint of blood.
Then I got poked, probed, pinched, hammered and shot
three times. I also got squeezed (you gals know about
that). I got drilled, splashed and soaked (ask me about
that one)
And when the results came I was pronounced (with
a few modifications) to be HEALTHY and good for
another year. NOT BAD FOR AN OLD GAL.
Just another way of ASSURING ME how very
BLESSED I AM.

FIRST SNOW OF 2009

Things really have been dry in our area.
As proven by the recent terrible wild
fires in the area just a few nights ago.
So we were pleased last night as we
listened to the weather report and were
told to expect snow by morning.
One to two inches - ending about 10:00 am
One to two inches, sounded great

We woke up this morning to a beautiful
white fairy land. Everything was covered
with the white stuff.

So Quen got out his WINTER TOY
and started to make snow trails.

This is NOT what one to two inches of snow looks like.
This measured more like five to six inches of snow.

Quen cleans all his side walks and then
takes on his double driveway

Hey! this is so much fun. Why stop now.
He cleans all the neighbors sidewalks, and
then goes all the way up to the end of the
street...... WHAT A NICE GUY.

One of the things I love about Colorado winters.
The sun came out and about 12:00 and the
melting started.

THREE THINGS

THREE THINGS I AM THINKING ABOUT AS I
WRITE THIS POST.
#1
DO YOU KNOW HOW ISOLATED YOU FEEL WHEN YOUR PHONE
GOES ON THE BLITZ?
If you have tried to reach us and got only a busy signal
TRY AGAIN
They flinally came out and fixed it. New outside wires.
Thank heaven for Cell Phones.
#2
STRONG - DOWN SLOPPINGS WINDS
I know that we got off easy, compared to some.
But we now have a large gaping hole in our back fence
AGAIN.
#3
AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SINCE
NEW YEARS EVE?
Well - the Bowl Games are over.
And we only have a couple more weeks
of NFL play off games.
I'm ready to get on to the
SUPER BOWL.
